This series of interesting and engaging lessons aims to equip children with a solid foundation understanding of special places in different religions and their own lives. Children learn about religon, considering special places in Christianity (churches), Islam (mosques) and Judaism (synagogues and sukkah). They also learn from religion, reflecting upon places that are special to themselves. The lessons included are: My Special Places Christianity - Churches Islam - Mosques Judaism - Synagogues and Sukkah Comparing Special Places In each lesson, the learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through logical, step-by-step activities. There are also clear hyperlinks for the video resources, and engaging, well-structured worksheets for the activities. In the past, I have used these lessons with children from across years 1-2 - the key learning is aligned with curriculum expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions. THIS BIG BUNDLE CONTAINS ALL OF THE FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM LESSONS, IN ADDITION TO THE KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER! In the engaging and comprehensive lessons, students are introduced to each of the five pillars of Islam: Shahada Salah Zakah Sawm Hajj Each lesson provides students with an in-depth understanding of the pillar, through a range of comprehension, knowledge recall, and creative activities. Children also consider their own personal spirituality, discussing important concepts such as perseverance, tolerance and respect. The lessons are tried and tested, and the nature of the colouful, step-by-step PowerPoint presentations (averaging around 17-18 slides per lesson) makes them easy for teachers and students to follow. All of the readings, worksheets, and other activities are also provided (in both Word and PDF), as well as hyperlinks to a number of video resources. Also included is the knowledge organiser, which serves as a brilliant reference point for an overview of the five pillars, for use by teachers, students, or to be sent home to parents to support learning from home. In the past, I have used these resources with children in upper Key Stage 2 (years 5 and 6). The key learning is aligned with regional expectations for RE, and also the content prescribed by most diocese regions.

Throughout this series of lessons, children are given a broad introduction to Buddhism, through a range of engaging and informative lessons. The following double-length (approx 60-90 mins) lessons are included: -Lesson 1: The Story of Siddhartha Gautama -Lesson 2: Suffering -Lesson 3: The Noble Eightfold Path -Lesson 4: Buddhist Stories Each lesson contains a colourful, comprehensive Powerpoint to guide teachers and children through the activities and learning. I originally used these lessons with lower KS2 children, but feel that they can also be easily adapted for children who are slightly older.

In this engaging lesson, students develop their understanding of Moses, through learning about the ten plagues of Egypt. They are encouraged to think deeply about the meanings that can be taken from the story, and consider ideas such as punishment and God’s power. The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey: -Knowledge recall - gauging children’s prior knowledge of Judaism - including Jewish persecution in Egypt and Moses’ early life; -Watching an engaging, age-appropriate video about the ten plagues, and attempting to recall them all ; -Considering the severity of each of the plagues, and discussing some of the moral and ethical implications of the story; -Considering their own attitudes towards the ideas presented in the story; -Writing a newspaper report about the plagues from the perspective of an imaginary Egyptian journalist, using the provided newspaper template; -Completing a plenary to assess their understanding. This fun and original collective worship session assists children in understanding the value of being creative in all of their endeavours, through: Understanding what creativity is, and recognising why it is such an important skill; Recognising God’s creativity and understanding how creativity is a trait within everyone (including themselves); Observing some amazing examples of the successes that creativity can catalyse; Learning strategies to demonstrate creativity in their own lives. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes a short video and discussion focusing on the Genesis section of the bible detailing God’s creation of the world and its creatures. The session also includes a fun interactive activity, a wonderful, thought-provoking video about the importance of creation, and various discussion activities regarding how to show creation in different areas of their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This fun and original collective worship aids children in understanding the value of wisdom. Specifically, it focuses on having the wisdom to know when to collaborate with others. It was delivered as a part of a series of three worship sessions on wisdom (available as a bundle), but works equally well as a standalone worship session. This is achieved through: -Recalling the definition of wisdom and thinking about how we can show the characteristics of being wise; -Thinking about what the word ‘collaboration’ means and discussing what we know about hazards; -Watching an age-appropriate video of different examples of collaboration from popular culture (hyperlinked); -Reading about Jesus and his effective collaboration with the apostles; -Relating these teachings to the modern world - discussing how others have shown collaboration to achieve great things, and thinking about how we can show collaboration in our own lives; -Singing a hymn relating to working with others, before reflecting through prayer. The session includes a comprehensive, engaging PowerPoint presentation and a hyperlink to the necessary video and hymn. There are also various discussion prompts to enable children to consider how collaborating and using the wisdom of others can help us in our lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guiding notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This resource pack contains all of the presentations, worksheets and activities needed to teach an engaging and progressive 6-week enquiry-led RE unit of learning. This unit aims to equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to answer the big question: ‘What is the Holy Trinity?’ The unit is broken down into 6 sessions: Three Persons in One God; God the Father part 1 - Creation and the Old Testament; God the Father part 2 - The Ten Commandments; God the Son - The Baptism of Jesus Christ; God the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is sent after the Death of Jesus; Assessment Lesson (assessment provided). All of the resources are provided to teach each lesson (in the past we have taught them as double lessons and spread into 12 separate sessions) and each presentation contains key questions through the 3 lenses of theology, philosophy and human/social sciences. Worksheets are provided in both Word (to allow editing) and PDF (to protect formatting). Each session contains knowledge recall based on learning from prior in the unit, a range of worksheet/ video/ creative resources to enhance engagement and a return to the enquiry question in the reflection section of the lesson. These resources are tried and tested and best suited to children in years 3 and 4. They are aligned with the age-related expectations used by the vast majority of regions/ diocese boards. When downloaded, the resources will be open in the download and also copied within the zip file.

This fun and original collective worship session assists children in understanding the value of peace, through: Understanding what peace is, and recognising why it is important; Understanding what Christianity/ the bible teaches us about peace; Looking at examples of behaviour that is peaceful and not peaceful and considering what can be done to promote peace; Learning strategies to demonstrate peacefulness in their own lives. This session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. The session also includes an engaging bible story (shown and told on a video - included), detailing how Abigail’s peaceful outlook prevented her husband from facing a devastating conflict. Furthermore, there are interesting scenarios (with scripts provided) that enable children to consider how to act peacefully in different situations. Various discussion prompts are also presented, to enable children to understand how peace can be a force for good in their own lives. The slides are fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included two pages of notes to assist the speaker. Hope that you find this useful!

This purposeful and original collective worship session aims to assist children in understanding the value of effective teamwork, through: -Understanding what teamwork is and recognising why it is important (with the help of a funny, purposeful video, which is hyperlinked into the presentation); -Learning what the Bible teaches about teamwork, and how we can apply these ideas to our own lives; -Looking at everyday activities and considering which require effective teamwork skills; -Demonstrating the power of teamwork through an engaging and powerful ‘hula hoop challenge’ game; -Understanding how and why teamwork can be important in school, and thinking about how they would use teamwork in different scenarios; -Finding out about how teamwork has contributed to some of humankind’s greatest achievements; -Ending with a prayer and a song about using our individual talents as a part of a team. This worship session is tried and tested, and has always been really well received in the past. It is comprehensive (27 slides in total) and the slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. No further resources are required except a single hoop for the challenge activity - everything else that you need to present the worship is included. The assembly presentation is fairly self-explanatory, but I’ve included guidance notes to assist the speaker just in case. Hope that you find this useful!
